Apostille
We assist clients in obtaining an apostille on Dutch documents so that they can be used in
other Hague Convention countries without additional embassy legalisation.
Our team helps determine whether your document is eligible, prepares any required steps such as notarisation
or sworn translation, and submits the document to the competent Dutch authority for apostille.
If your document is intended for a non-Hague Convention country, we will advise you on
consular (embassy) legalisation instead.
Documents eligible for apostille
Apostilles can be issued on:
• Dutch civil status documents: birth, marriage, divorce, death certificates
• Certificates and extracts issued by municipalities or Dutch authorities
• Notarial deeds and notarised signatures (e.g. POA, contracts, company documents)
• Sworn translations issued by Dutch sworn translators
• KVK extracts and other company records (with notarisation where required)
The exact procedure depends on the issuing authority and the type of document.

How the apostille process works
-
1Send us a scan of your document and indicate the country where it will be used.
-
2We confirm whether apostille applies (Hague Convention country) or whether embassy legalisation is required.
-
3If necessary, we arrange notarisation or sworn translation before submitting the document.
-
4We submit the document to the responsible Dutch court or authority and monitor the issuance of the apostille.
-
5The apostilled document is delivered to you. Courier delivery abroad can be arranged if needed.
Is apostille the correct route?
Apostille is only valid for Hague Convention countries.
For non-Hague countries, a full consular legalisation chain is required (Ministry of Foreign Affairs + Embassy).
Unsure which applies to you? Send us your document and destination country—we will advise you immediately.

Processing time depends on the type of document and issuing authority. Additional notarisation or sworn translation
